Resource Center

All funds for conduct of the Hemet Lions' charitable work are raised at the Hemet Lions' Resource Center. The Resource Center is proud to be a State of California authorized community collection site.

In the past thirty years, the Hemet Lions have diverted over 22 million pounds of recyclable materials from landfills. Club members have volunteered over 4000 hours per year to salvage 18 million pounds of scrap paper, 4.4 million pounds of glass, 122,000 pounds of aluminum and 36,000 pounds of plastic. Over $301,000.00 has been earned for community charitable projects during these years.

Most of the materials are dropped off by the public at our recycle center. Also, collection bins and barrels are located in many mobile home parks and businesses, reducing the cost of public waste collection.

A separate Lion crew processes more than 40,000 pairs of used eyeglasses each year at the Resource Center. These glasses are distributed through the Lions network to third world countries where a pair of glasses may cost a year's wages. Thousands of pairs are distributed directly to the public on the Friends Across The Border trips to Mexico. Volunteers attend various homeless/health faires throughout the Inland Empire to provide vision screening and donated eyeglasses to the needy in our communities. Used hearing aids are also gathered for use of the Lions Hearing Foundation. These items may be left at any time in a door slot at the Center.

Your continued support is vital to sustain these worthwhile Lion activities. Drop off paper, aluminum, glass bottles and jars, and plastics at our Resource Center at 119 S. Inez St. in Hemet, California (see map below). The Center is staffed by Lion volunteers and open 24 hours per day.
